Happy 2012 for every people

on 8 January 2012

For those I have clear enough that I love…
For those I have clear enough that I do not love…
For those that I’m in doubt if I should or shouldn’t love…

Happy solar year for all of you.

I’ve done some Zen, I’ve deleted all my old blog entries and tags.

We all create digital garbage across years.

We even create physical garbage.

Linux is a way, to manage the hardware of your computer. It does (across other things) like the MS windows “drivers” if you know what they are. Linux is open-source, so you do not need to renew 8 computers to make the same that you did with ie4, w95, office95, and your modem on bps.

So, with not an enterprise deprecation policy, you may find fun events, like being a kernel shipped in a 62M of xz compressed source code, 94M in .gz format. Trust me if you’re not going to look at it, that is too much lines of public available source code and related notes:

HEAD is now at 5f0a6e2... Linux 3.2-rc7
inigo@crono:~/src/linux$ du -sh --total ./* | tail -1
505M total

Debian is another open source project with a nice karma. I use it as the main OS (operative system) of my Off-line Network Of Computers In Network.

You can do fun things with Debian, but it’s very big too:

[100%] Getting: dists/squeeze/main/installer-i386/current/images/netboot/mini.iso... ok
[100%] Getting: dists/squeeze/main/installer-i386/current/images/netboot/netboot.tar.gz... ok
[100%] Getting: dists/squeeze/main/installer-i386/current/images/netboot/xen/initrd.gz... ok
[100%] Getting: dists/squeeze/main/installer-i386/current/images/netboot/xen/vmlinuz... ok
[100%] Getting: dists/squeeze/main/installer-i386/current/images/netboot/xen/xm-debian.cfg... ok
[100%] Getting: dists/squeeze/main/installer-i386/current/images/udeb.list... ok
Downloaded 2213 MiB in 1762s at 1286.26 kiB/s.
Cleanup mirror.
All done.
77G	/mnt/iomega/debian
inigo@crono:~ $ grep SEC bin/usb
        SECTIONS='main,contrib,non-free,main/debian-installer'
            --section="$SECTIONS" \
inigo@crono:~ $

Thats 77G to have the Debian i386 and amd64, binary and source packages, and its installer images.

Fortunately, the “not solid state” hard disks, are cheap, nowadays, here.

I’m going a bit fat too with the years. This week I’ve returned 3 days to play basque pelota, with the hands. It’s a bit different sport than climbing mountains, but it’s a ying-yang ready sport for a desktop-like worker, and it’s fun.

So I’m back. I’ve already worked in my off-line network some time, but now I need to re-do my on-line network. That is a few recycled PCs and a 2006 iMac (24″), all of them running Debian too.

I want to run the privilege separation principle, from my old firewall, to my firefox profiles, and I want to redo lot of things.

My home firewall currently runs behind a cablemodem, then Linux tcp stack with iptables, then a cheap switch, then more linux internal machines (imac, recycled pcs, laptops, etc).

My new design is going to be more tcp stacks. Like 2 or 3 different OS, hardened as firewall, and not just one and not hardened. Like: cablemodem|debian|openbsd|centos|switch, well, maybe just debian and openbsd, but you get the idea.

I’ve to search for a job since one month ago, but I’ve started today, and I’ve still not and updated resume after many years without worry about such thing.

I would like to avoid linkedin, twitter, facebook, skype and such tools, but speaking with people, it seems it’s going to be difficult.

I’m preparing, a more decent home page. This wordpress blog that I’ve used across late years, is a great tool and does a perfect job, but does not reflect my spirit as my personal home page should do.

I’m spending the sun light, doing fun things I was not doing 6 years ago, and now that Christmas passed, I’m going to work in that personal home page I need to present myself to the web.

This is a post to say to the world, I’m not K.O., I just deleted my old blog posts, and more things…

O:-)
